Daily Growth Psychology
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
1. How does Daily Growth Psychology handle fees and bulk billing?
Please note: Gavin does not offer bulk billing for the entire duration of the counselling services being provided. In accordance with the ethical obligation to obtain "financial consent" (Code of Conduct Section 4.2j), Gavin is transparent about all costs before services commence.
To support access, the 'Engagement Package' is offered for new clients with a valid Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP) from their GP in the last 12 months. By availing this package, the client pays the standard rate ($260) for all sessions of their Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP), except for the the third, sixth, and final 10th session which are bulk-billed (i.e. no out-of-pocket costs). This model supports the ethical goal of maintaining continuity of service and ensuring clients can commit to treatment, while saving over $480 (approximately $161.05 x 3 bulk-billed sessions) over the course of their 10 MHTP sessions.
After successful payment of the standard fee, a rebate is processed by the Medicare Benefits Scheme (MBS) and you will be automatically reimbursed to your nominated bank account. This rebate is set at $98.95, which makes the total out-of-pocket payment for each session as $161.05. In the case of a bulk-billed appointment, you consent for this Medicare rebate to be made directly to Daily Growth Psychology as payment for the service provided.
2. Why don't you offer bulk billing only?
Fees are set to ensure Daily Growth Psychology can maintain a sustainable, high-quality practice that meets the "safe and effective services" standard. While the 'Engagement Package' is provided to assist with affordability, the business model must also allow for the ongoing professional development, resources and reinvestment to serve clients over the long term. The standard fee set at $260 is significantly below (18-21%) the rate recommended by professional psychology bodies such as the APS (recommended $318) (https://psychology.org.au/psychology/about-psychology/what-it-costs/private-practice-services)and AAPi (recommended $330).(https://www.aapi.org.au/Web/Web/About-AAPi/News/Articles/2025/May/25-26Recommended-Fees-Guide.aspx)

3. Can I use NDIS funding at Daily Growth Psychology?
Yes. We work with NDIS participants (Self and Plan Managed). Daily Growth Psychology bill strictly according to the NDIS Price Guide limit to ensure he is not "exploiting the vulnerability or lack of knowledge of clients" regarding fees (Code Section 8.13a). This means NDIS participants have $0 out-of-pocket expenses for funded sessions.
4. What does "Informed Consent" mean for counselling?
Informed consent is a core principle of Daily Growth Psychology. Before starting, you will be provided information about the benefits and risks of the work in a way you can understand. We respect your right to make your own decisions about your service, and you can withdraw your consent at any time.
5. How do you ensure the service is culturally safe and neuroaffirming?
Daily Growth Psychology is committed to Principle 2 and Principle 3 of the Code of Conduct, which mandate culturally safe and reflective practice. Gavin actively reflects on his own cultural biases and works to create an environment where your culture, values, and beliefs are respected.
Yes. Gavin is committed to providing neuroaffirming care, which means he views neurodivergence (such as ADHD and Autism) as natural variations of the human brain rather than deficits to be fixed.
This approach is underpinned by Principle 3 of the Code of Conduct, which requires psychologists to "respect diverse experiences of all people" and "avoid bias and challenge beliefs based upon assumption" regarding disability.
In practice, this means Gavin will understand the individual needs of each client and adapt the delivery of services appropriately, rather than forcing a "one-size-fits-all" approach. He works in partnership with clients and relevant stakeholders to identify their unique strengths and goals, and creates an environment that supports the safety and security of neurodivergent individuals.
